Q. Should teeth whitening be done by a Dentist?
A. Teeth whitening is purely cosmetic and non dental. Therefore as a trained whitening technician, I hope to reassure you that you will be in safe hands.
Q: How to prepare for the appointment?
A: Please do not brush your teeth with toothpaste within 4 hours either side of the teeth whitening appointment. There are fillers in the toothpastes which can block the pores of the enamel. Instead, please gently brush your teeth with your toothbrush and water before your appointment. Please ensure you are not pregnant, breastfeeding, under 16 years of age, or have gum disease. At the start of your appointment you will have a consultation where we discuss the process, expectations and go over the consent form, along with any questions you may have.
Q: What after-care is there?
A: After teeth whitening, the pores of your enamel will be open. It is highly recommended that you follow the White Diet within 24 hours after your teeth whitening session. This means consuming food and beverages which are white. Rule of thumb is that anything you drop on a white t-shirt that may stain, may stain your teeth within the first 24 hours. A white diet aftercare sheet will be provided to you at the end of your appointment for you to take away.
Q: What teeth will be whitened?
A: The gel will be applied to the front seen teeth only (including the sides). The back teeth and behind the teeth will not be touched.
Q: Is teeth whitening suitable for everyone?
A: Teeth whitening is a treatment most people want and can have, however, it is not recommended for children under 16 years of age, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Do not have a teeth whitening treatment if you are any of the above, or have gum disease or are requiring dental work.
Q: How long will a teeth whitening treatment last?
A: Teeth will maintain their fresh new appearance for around one year. Re-staining depends largely on diet and lifestyle. Smoking, coffee, tea, fruit juice, sodas all staining foods and beverages will eventually re-stain the surface of your teeth.
Q: How long does the appointment take?
A: For the initial 1.5 hour appointment you will have x3 treatments at 15 minute increments where I will reapply your gel after each 15 minutes. At the start of your appointment you will have a consultation where we discuss the process, expectations and go over the consent form, along with any questions you may have. At the end of your appointment we discuss results and the aftercare.
The Top-up Service takes just 45 minutes which consists of 30 minutes in chair session and 15 mins discussion about results and aftercare. The Top-up Service rewinds any new stain build-up within your 1 year, after your first initial whitening treatment.
Q: What results can be expected?
A: This depends on each individual and the extent of discoloration, but generally from 5-14 shades lighter can be achieved. Generally, the more stained your teeth are, the more dramatic the result will be. Results will differ from person to person depending on what their stains are caused by, how long the stains have been there, age and genetics. Teeth whitening whether done by a dentist or cosmetic technician will not whiten your tooth enamel. The process will bleach the stains on the surface of your teeth. The results are also relevant to how regularly you have a teeth whitening procedure or use home whitening treatments. Where whitening is done every 6-12 months it is considered a maintenance procedure and results will be less dramatic. The light in the before and after pictures can differ depending on natural light with approx 1.5 hours between each picture taken. Our results are real. Real people with Real results. Q: Can I cancel and/or Reschedule my appointment?
A: Deposit of $30 is required via bank transfer to confirm/secure the booking. Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy applies: Deposit is non-refundable if Cancelling within 24 hours of appointment. If a request to Reschedule to another date or time within 24 hours of original appointment time, the appointment will not be rescheduled, it will be cancelled due to the possibility of being unable to fill that spot, deposit will be non-refundable, and a new booking will need to be booked and new deposit paid within that 24 hour period.
